Natural Gas futures advanced in the domestic and overseas market on Wednesday as investors and speculators booked fresh positions in the energy commodity as forecasts for a late cold front in early April across the US Northeast and Midwest bolstered the demand outlook for the heating fuel and eased concerns over oversupplies. 

Energy Aspects said that US natural gas output has fallen 2 per cent from a recent high of 73 billion cubic feet while the EIA on Thursday, may show a 24 billion cubic feet withdrawal in US gas supplies in the week ended March 25, 2016. 

At the MCX, Natural Gas futures for April 2016 contract closed at Rs 132.8 per mmBtu, up by 0.53 per cent, after opening at Rs 132, against the previous closing price of Rs 132.1. It touched an intra- day high of Rs 133.8.

Oil prices edged up on Thursday as sentiment spread that a 20-month long market rout may have come to an end as production slows amid strong demand.


U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were trading at $34.73 per barrel at 0229 GMT, up 7 cents from their last settlement.


WTI has gained over a third in value since Feb. 11, when prices dropped to little more than $26 per barrels, levels not seen since 2003.

International Brent futures were up 3 cents at 36.96 a barrel, and up almost a quarter since Feb. 11.

Gold

Gold settled down -1.47% at 29337 as the dollar and global shares rose, but fund buying persisted as investors expected a G20 summit would produce little in the way of a coordinated stimulus program.

Silver settled down -2.57% at 36250 after the Federal Reserve's preferred gauge for inflation rose by its highest annual percentage in more than three years, augmenting hawkish sentiments for accelerated normalization in the U.S. central bank's first tightening cycle in nearly a decade.

India gets first tranche of imported pulses

India gets first tranche of imported pulsesIndia, which is facing shortage of pulses, has received the first trance of 1,872 tonnes of tur dal, an official statement said on Monday.
The pulses, whose tender was floated by state-run Metals and Minerals Trading Corporation of India (MMTC) recently to tame the rising prices, were being allocated to states as per their requirements, it added.
"The first tranche of 888 tonnes and 984 tonnes of tur dal has arrived at Chennai Port and Mumbai's JNPT on September 23 and September 24 respectively," the consumer affairs, food and public distribution ministry said in the statement.
The remaining consignment of 5,000 tonnes of tur (pulse), already ordered for the import, would be received soon, it added.
Besides, the MMTC, which handles trading of primary products such as coal, iron ore, and manufactured agro, would also open the bids for importing additional 5,000 tonnes of tur on October 1.
Meanwhile, the consignment of 5,000 tonnes of urad (pulse) from Myanmar will reach India by October 20.
During the fourth meeting of the inter ministerial committee on prices and availability of essential food items chaired by Consumer Affairs Secretary C. Viswanath here, it was also disclosed that the first tranche of onion is expected to arrive from China and Egypt on October 3.

MCX TIPS - SOYABEAN MARKET UPDATE BY MARKETMAGNIFY

Soyabean prices settled flat as sluggish demand for soymeal in export markets, capped some gains in soyabean prices.

Timely planting and sufficient rains through most of July in the major grain producing states is likely to support MY 2015/16 Kharif grain production prospects. However, sufficient rains throughout August and September will be critical for achieving forecast normal yields.

The inputs provided by the USDA report on August 12 were negative and had pressured price levels of US soy complex on the same day. Overall, the global supply outlook for soybeans in 2015/16 remains positive, notwithstanding the recent downward revisions.

Soyabean trading range for the day is 3085-3179.
