U.S.CRUDE

U.S. May crude gained $2.21 to settle at $105.23 a barrel, having slipped to $102.06, but breaking its fall before threatening the 100-day moving average of $101.32. U.S. crude gained 4.2 percent in the first quarter.

NYMEX CRUDE

NYMEX crude for May delivery was down 33 cents at $104.90 a barrel by 0028 GMT, after settling up $2.21 at $105.23.

OIL

Oil prices rose a second day on Monday, gaining 2 percent as loading delays for North Sea crude cargoes added to concerns about global supply disruptions and as supportive U.S. manufacturing data countered disappointing economic figures from Europe.

Spot platinum was off 0.27 percent at $1,644.73 an ounce.

Platinum stood at a discount of about $20 below gold prices, after reversing to a premium in March.

Spot silver jumped 2.5 percent to $33.01 an ounce.

Speculators in silver cut bullish exposure, reducing net length by 3,284 lots to 17,031 contracts — the lowest level since the week of Jan. 29, when they were long on 16,034 lots.

LME COPPER

Three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange slipped 0.3 percent to $8,614.25 a tonne by 0105 GMT, its first loss in four sessions.

The most-active copper for April delivery on the MCX last ended 1.71 percent higher at 439.05 rupees per kg, after hitting a high of 440.20 rupees, a level last seen on March 26.

U.S.GOLD

U.S. gold was nearly flat at $1,680.30.
